The Life of Pi by Yann Martel, is a good book in my opinion. However, if you commonly find yourself bored, you will not like this book! In the beginning before the family makes a voyage to Canada, it was painful to read. It was painful to read because the beginning is incredibly anticlimactic. In addition, you will find no suspense whatsoever. However, if you still seek to read the book and are bored easily; I highly recommend watching the film. I recommend the film to anyone, as I have found it to be an outstanding film. The motion picture of the Life of Pi was made in 2012, directed by Ang Lee. If you happen to be curious, it has a score of eighty-seven percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Ultimately, the film is more appealing to watch and it resembles the beginning in a better manner than the book does. If you are still desperate to read the book, read at your own risk! I will recommend the book to anyone who has very high tolerance, and can withstand reading vast amounts of text that is not very thrilling. Formerly I have found the book to be uneventful, but making it to the scene where the ship was sinking was the most rewarding feeling ever. Despite the insurmountable odds, Pi had survived only because Parker was present. Furthermore, Pi even thanked Parker at the end of the story for helping him survive. Parker (if you think about it) out of all of marine threats, was the immediate threat for Pi. Inasmuch, Parker was what kept Pi breathing because he was there to help distract. Conversely, if Parker had not been present, Pi would have easily lost his desire to live. I even contemplated among the facts that seem perplexing to me. Especially the fact why had Parker never murdered Pi? Reassuringly I found that Parker was a tamed tiger; that was the reason why he had submitted his dominance. Prior to his submitting, Pi manages to maintain his dominance over Parker by training exercises. It also fascinates me in how Pi manages to survive under extreme conditions. Whereas in reality, we would not expect Pi to survive. On the contrary, the prologue answers that Pi has accomplished his voyage to Canada. Broadening my opinion; despite the fact that the beginning of the novel being really boring, I rate it positively. Additionally, its because the writing was well done; although the obvious flaw was the lack of suspense in the beginning. When I read the part when the zebra had still lived after a few missing pieces, I was shocked. Given that example, Martel had executed a fine part of suspense that had made me outburst in amazement. Then from the point when only Parker and Pi remain, I felt inspired to not give up at moments. Overall, the book is a fine piece of work.
